For your purposes, I am a humble writer who is motivated by honor (and money, of course) to try to present your unique identity in an interesting and authentic profile. If you were a fictional character, I could be omnipotent, or even omniscient. But, I have found that it is true what they say about life being stranger than fiction, so I am here to listen to your story and help you express it to the world in a manner you see fit.
Writing first caught my attention some time back when I was a teenager struggling to compose poetry about love. In college, I earned an associate's in marketing, completed all the requirements to take the real estate exam, and explored subjects that ranged from French to philosophy, and white water kayaking to rock climbing. I became increasingly interested in writing and finally settled on earning a degree in journalism from the University of Hawaii. My hope was to be able to write about all the diverse subjects that interested me. My training in journalism certainly gave me the ability to write and edit in a concise, clear and direct manner.
After finishing my degree in 2003, I applied my training in a science writing and editing position. Beyond reporting "just the facts," it also provided me with a very dynamic environment, broad responsibilities, and ample freedom to be creative. Through this position I also discovered that profile writing became my favorite part of the job. I loved to interview and observe people.
In 2005, following the end of my contracted science writing position, I continued writing profiles about people, places and businesses for Moiliili-The Life of a Community.
In late 2005, I followed another dream to go to cooking school for two years. I continued to write, publishing several articles about cooking, but most of my time was directed toward creating culinary delights and learning about the physiological effects of food.
With cooking school below my belt (and a happy belly above), and nearly two years of professional cooking experience, I am now writing a cookbook that will be available in 2010.
What else?
Like most people out there, I love experiencing life and exploring the world. Life is enhanced by learning about new things and having memorable experiences.
Based on what I do practically everyday, two things stand out in importance: writing and cooking. I love the process of writing and the synergistic, powerful affect that it can achieve. I love cooking because it can promote personal evolution through a basic fundamental need.
If you noticed I didn't include breathing as something I do every day, then you should be a writer too - a comedy writer!
